Mr. Phillips’ grew up in a highly technical family. His father worked as a calibration technician for the Atlas missile project, and his step-father as a designer of precision measurement tools for NASA and BOEING. It is no surprise that Mr. Phillips became a world-renowned pool builder after paying his dues as a swimming pool service technician.
In this interview, Skip Phillips, once the youngest president of NSPI, explains the challenges of working within the pool and spa industry which lead to the creation of the Genesis 3 design group – an educational resource for pool builders at all levels.
As an ambassador to the National Swimming Pool Foundation, Mr. Phillips addresses the chemical management challenges often faced by private pool owners and the service techs who handle their pools.
In his conversation, Monica asks Mr. Phillips about his take on the importance of chemical automation in the residential market, the mistakes of the industry, and better quality water. Both Orenda and Skip Phillips strive to make swimming pools safer and to better the image of the pool and spa industry.
